In the much-anticipated 3rd Test Match between Indian & South Africa played at the SuperSport Park. – The South African team managed to get the upper hand and dominated day 1 by playing some classic test match cricket. The hosts were asked to bowl, after Indian winning the 3rd consecutive toss this series.

India on the other hand tried to build some meaningful partnerships all day on a somewhat green top wicket against the energetic & fresh South African bowlers, however managed only decent contributions from Rishab Pant (27), Chetashwar Poojara (43) and the top Scorer Virat Kohli (79) and ending the Indian 1st innings at 223.

Kohli’s innings reminisced his classic cover and straight drives and deserved a century at the Centurion but fell short by 21 runs– again poking at a ball at the 9th stump line off Kagiso Rabada in the post tea session. The innings from Kohli displayed grit, determination, patience – scoring 79 inclusive of 12 4s and a gigantic six of Kagiso Rabada.

The day ended with South Africa adding 17 runs in the 8 overs of possible play & loosing 1 wicket of Dean Elgar by Jaspreet Bumrah, Bumrah is yet to leak any runs of his 4 overs bowled.

South Africa do hold a commanding position after the end of the days play & expecting an exciting day 2 at the centurion with the visitors hoping to up their game with tight bowling and getting some more early wickets in the first session.
