Gavaskar doubts Punjab Kings – They don’t have an impact player; I doubt they will win the title.

Gavaskar doubts Punjab Kings

IPL 2022 is all set to begin on the 26th of March. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing in the first match in Mumbai. This year’s mega auction saw unprecedented changes in all the franchises. Among the franchises that have strong players, Punjab Kings is also one.

In the two day auction, Punjab got Shikar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Chahar. The franchise retained opener Mayank Agarwal and bowler Arshdeep Singh. Mayank  Agarwal is going to be the captain of the Punjab Kings in this IPL 2022.

However, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar doubts Punjab Kings as there are no impact players in the team. It is relevant to mention here that Punjab Kings is also among the three franchises that did not win the IPL title even once.

Sunil Gavaskar told Sports Tak, “Punjab Kings is one of those teams who are yet to win the title. This time, I don’t think they have an impact player in the team they have built. On the other hand, though, this could also benefit the side. When there are very low expectations, there is very less pressure.”

Gavaskar doubts Punjab Kings as the team has never been in a consistent cycle of winning This has not happened with Punjab Kings and it convinces him that they are not title challengers.

Suni Gavaskar also said, “ When the pressure is less, the players are free in their approach. In that aspect. I think Punjab can surprise a few. Will they win the trophy? I doubt that. See, this is a T 20 format and you have to be in that consistent cycle of winning.”
