Not Ishan Kishan ; Sunil Gavaskar wants these two openers for T20 WC

Gavaskar backs Rohit, Rahul as openers for T20 WC

ICC T20 WC will be played in Australia later this year. Team India already started their preparation for this tournament. India won T20 WC in 2007, first edition of the tournament. After that they didn’t bag this trophy. Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy Team India is looking to win the title. Former Indian Opener Sunil Gavaskar backs Rohit and Rahul as openers for upcoming T20 World Cup.

KL Rahul played brilliantly in the IPL 2022 and scored 616runs, second highest run getter of the tournament. But unfortunately due to an injury he has been ruled out of the five-match T20 series against South Africa. Skipper Rohit Sharma is one of the best openers in international cricket.

Living legend Sunil Gavaskar backs Rohit and Rahul as openers for T20 WC. “My opening combination would have KL Rahul if he’s fit and Rohit Sharma alongside him,” he said on Star Sports.

Another Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan who had a good IPL but Gavaskar reckoned that he will not get picked for the tournament.

“No. I don’t see his name popping up. If it had to pop up, it would have been in this squad. A lot of guys have gone to England and he could have been in this squad. If he is not in this squad, I don’t see him ending in the mix (for T20 World Cup),” Gavaskar said further.

Ex-South African captain Graeme Smith agreed with Gavaskar as he also backed Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as openers for T20 WC.
