WPL 2023 -Shafali Verma and Tara Norris help Delhi Capitals crush Bangalore by 60 runs

Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals (DC) crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by Smriti Mandhana in match No.2 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.

Giving Delhi Capitals (DC) a rollicking start against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their campaign opener of the inaugural Premier League (WPL) 2023 on Sunday, the world-class batting duo of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma smashed the highest opening stand of 162 runs in match No.2 of the T20 tournament at the Brabourne Stadium. While skipper Lanning played a sublime knock of 72 off 43 balls, opener Shafali top-scored (84 off 45 balls) for Delhi Capitals as the openers laid the foundation for a gigantic total in 20 overs. 

Cameos from Marizanne Kapp (39 off 17 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (22 off 15 balls) propelled Delhi Capitals to 223-2 in 20 overs. In reply, Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore only mustered 163-8 in 20 overs as the Tara Norris-inspired side registered a comfortable win. Delhi’s Norris bagged a historic five-wicket haul to help DC thrash RCB by 60 runs in their WPL 2023 opener at the Brabourne Stadium.
