PBKS vs GT IPL 2023: Shubman Gill scored a brilliant 49-ball-67 to guide Gujarat Titans to victory over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in Mohali on Thursday. Wriddhiman Saha provided GT with a perfect start before he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada who became the fastest to claim 100 wickets in IPL history. Earlier, tight bowling performance from Gujarat Titans restrict Punjab Kings to 153/8 in 20 overs. For PBKS, Matthew Short smashed 36 runs while Jitesh Sharma scored 25. Apart from them, Shahrukh Khan and Sam Curran scored 22 runs each. For GT, Mohit Sharma scalped two wickets while Rashid Khan, Johua Little, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph scalped one wicket each. GT after skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl.

After being put in to bat first, the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab were halted at 153/8 at the end of their 20 overs against Gujarat. Mohit Sharma, who made his debut for the franchise, was the pick of the bowlers.

Shubman Gill-Wicket got a bit challenging in the end. Was harder to hit sixes with the old ball. It’s a big ground. Was important to keep hitting the gaps, run as hard as possible. I should’ve finished the match. Rahul Tewatia and PBKS is a love story. In these types of games, there’s definitely pressure on both teams. It’s about trying to minimise dot balls. It was difficult for them also to score runs against old ball. Was important to have a good powerplay. We ticked that box. It wasn’t a big score. Was important to keep hitting the singles. He looked good in the nets also (Mohit). He has a good yorker. He bowled magnificently with the slower one, using the boundaries. Was a great GT debut for him.

Shikhar Dhawan–Dhawan: We did not quite put as many runs on the board. If you see the number of dot balls, whenever they play 56 dot balls, they end up losing the game. So we need to rectify that. Whenever a team lose early wickets, they go on the back foot but we need to work on that. Our batting unit needed to give more of a cushion to the bowling unit. He (Liam Livingstone) came for practice yesterday but he pulled his muscle so he may be fit in another 3-4 days.
