KKR vs CSK IPL 2023

KKAR vs CSK IPL'2023

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 49 runs in yesterday’s (April 23) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. With the emphatic win, Chennai moved to the top of the points table.

Sent into bat first, CSK put up an imposing 235/4 on the board as Ajinkya Rahane (71* off 29) and Shivam Dube (50 off 21) cracked whirlwind half-centuries. In the chase, KKR were held to 186/8 despite fifties from Jason Roy (61 off 26) and Rinku Singh (53* off 33).

Kolkata needed a solid start to stay in the hunt in a big chase. Instead, Akash Singh castled Sunil Narine (0) in the first over, while Narayan Jagadeesan perished to Tushar Deshpande for one. Venkatesh Iyer was trapped lbw for a run-a-ball 20 by Moeen Ali. In the same over, Roy clobbered the off-spinner for three consecutive sixes.

KKR skipper Nitish Rana (27), however, again failed to make a significant contribution. He holed out to deep midwicket off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling. Roy kept Kolkata’s slim hopes alive. He took on Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana and hammered them for some big hits.

The KKR batter raced to a 19-ball fifty. Theekshana had the last laugh, though, as he foxed Roy and cleaned him up. Even as wickets kept falling, Rinku held one end up and completed another defiant half-century, albeit in a losing cause.

The results of the last match of CSK vs KKR were very exciting, and a low-scoring match, in which Chennai Super Kings batting first, gave a target of 131 runs to Kolkata, By Chasing which the Kolkata Knight Riders team scored 133 runs in only 18.3 overs, And won the match by a big margin of 6 wkts.

Rahane smashed an undefeated 71-run knock off 29 balls, including six fours and five sixes. Conway, on the other hand, smashed 56 runs off 40 deliveries, including four fours and three maximums.

Dube was also on fire, scoring 50 runs off 21 balls, including two fours and five maximums. Kulwant Khejroliya claimed two wickets for CSK, while Suyash Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy each had one dismissed.

The low-arm slings of Pathirana has felled Russell. Surely that’s the game for CSK. He was drilled through covers earlier in the over by Rinku in trying to bowl a yorker, only to miss his lengths. He unleashes a slower ball away from Russell’s hitting arc, but he goes for it anyway and is caught.

As everyone comes together to celebrate the wicket, Dhoni takes Pathirana aside, puts his arm around him and gives him a few encouraging words for the effort. What more can a youngster expect of his captain? Theekshana dismissed Roy, Pathirana dismisses Russell. The Sri Lankan duo is doing the tough job quite admirably for CSK this season.

CSK have posted 235/4, the highest-ever IPL score at this venue. KKR will have to smash that record if they are to win this. Rahane finishes 71 not out off 29. Dhoni comes out to face the last two and give the home crowd what they want. KKR just stormed off as the final ball was bowled, perhaps relieved the carnage is over.
