Suryakumar Yadav glitz as MI thrash RCB by six wickets
Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in an Indian Premier League match.
What a run chase by the Mumbai Indians! There are wins and there are performances like these. It is a proper hammering RCB took today there is no other way to put it. The Surya’s innings today have to be the innings of the tournament it was brutal hitting. Nehal Wadhera at the other end too showed his class. He too smacked a timely half-century. RCB’s bowling has been poor, to say the least. Saying Harshal Patel had an off-day would be kind to him. The win not only gives Mumbai Indians the confidence also a huge boost in Net Run Rate and they will jump above in the table now.
It has to be the innings of the season. This has been T20 batting at its very best. Some of the shots he played were unreal. What an innings by a champion player. Most of the RCB fielders congratulated him after the knock and rightly so.
Virat Kohli giving the pep-talk and this will be a very crucial innings for both teams. In a virtual quarter-final clash Bangalore needs early wickets while Mumbai has chased 200-plus totals but will require a good start from its openers. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma open the innings as the run chase gets underway with Mohammed Siraj steaming in with the new ball. Here we go!
Akash Madhwal bowls the final over and the youngster starts with a brilliant yorker. The fast bowler delivered a brilliant last over and almost every ball has been bang on target. Just six runs from the final over and Mumbai needs 200 runs to win.
Rohit opts for the option of spin at the death with Karthikeya bowling the 18th over. Karthik makes the right connection as he sweeps the spinner for a boundary and then uses his experience to drill the spinner over the covers for a boundary. The wicket-keeper then gets underneath a full toss to hammer the spinner over the deep mid-wicket for a maximum. Excelent batting from Karthik.
Ishan Kishan clatters back-to-back SIXES off Mohammed Siraj. Ishan dances down the track to launch one over long-on for a six and then a short ball follows which the MI opener pummels over long-on for a maximum as well. Siraj responds with a bouncer but it’s given as a wide. Credit to RCB wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat for the brilliant one-handed take. 15 runs from it.
