U19WC: India beat South Africa by 45 runs

Indian team started U19campaign with a winning start. Yash Dhull lead Indian team have beaten South Africa by 45 runs.

Placed in group B, India’s next encounter will be against Ireland on the 19 of January.

Batting first India had set a target of 233 runs for young proteas. Indian skipper Yash Dhull’s captain’s knock (82) helped the Indian team to reach a respectable score. Kaushal Thambe (35) and Rasheed (31) have chipped in with the bat for India. Whereas Matthew Boast picked up 3 wickets. Indian team was bowled out for 232 in the 47 over.

Chasing 233 South Africa have lost their opener in the first over with no runs added. Cunningham was trapped in front in the bowling of Hangargekar. Brevis who joined the opener Kitime have steadied the ship as they have added 58 runs for the second wicket. Vicky has given the breakthrough for India by dismissing Kitime for 25 runs. Vicky had stuck again for India just when South Africa looking to have control. Reduced the proteas to 83/3 South African captain Heerden joined Brevis in the middle.

The duo has added 55 runs for the fourth wicket. In the process, Brevis reached his half-century. Raj Bawa provided a vital breakthrough for Indians in the 37 over. Left-arm pacer bowler has dismissed settled Brevis back to the pavilion. With 95 runs to victory, Proteas skipper kept losing partners at the other end. South Africa lost their last 7 wickets for 49 runs in a span of 10 overs. Vicky has spiked up 5 wickets for India.
