Rohit Sharma posted a heartfelt message

Five times IPL champion Mumbai Indians are now officially out of playoffs in IPL 2022. Their hopes were shattered by LSG in a must win game at Wankhede.

MI skipper Rohit Sharma shared a heartfelt message to fans on Monday. “We haven’t put our best foot forward in this tournament but that happens, many sporting giants have gone through this phase but I love this team and its environment. Also want to appreciate our well-wishers who’ve shown faith and undying loyalty to this team so far,” he said on Twitter. In reply Mumbai Indians posted “Stronger Together”.

Horror batting performance by MI batters throughout the tournament is one of the main reason for MI’s failure.
“We haven’t batted well enough in this tournament. Whoever plays in the middle needs to take that responsibility and go on to play long innings. Some of the opposition players have done that and that is what is hurting us. One guy needs to ensure that he bats as long as possible,” Rohit said in the post match presentation.

After eight consecutive defeats, head coach Mahela Jayawardene said that batting has been concern for them.
“Good question. I need to review this and have a chat with the rest of the coaches as well and make some plans. Batting has been a concern for us, especially on good wickets where we have batted under par.”

Jayawardene hinted to change some players for the upcoming matches :
“This is a senior group that understands the conditions and performed in the past. We need to keep pushing and if we need to make those changes we will do that,” he said.

Rohit Upset With Mumbai Indians Batting Performance :

Rohit Sharma blamed batters for poor batting performance including himself against LSG.

“I thought we bowled pretty okay. It was a good pitch to bat on but we didn’t bat well enough. We should have chased that down. When you have a target like that, you need those partnership, which we couldn’t do. Some irresponsible shots including mine. They bowled well in the middle. We haven’t batted well in the tournament.” he said at the post match presentation.
