Team India set to become the first team to play 1000 ODI match

With under a week for the commencement of the India vs West Indies ODI series. The first ODI of the series is scheduled to start from the 6 of February at Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will be team India’s 1000 ODI match.

Team India played the first ODI on the 13th of July 1974 at Leeds against England in which India lost by 4 wickets. India has won 518 out of 999 matches played so far, lost 431 matches. However Sri Lanka holds the record of maximum defeats in ODI history, Lanka has lost 432 matches. On the other had Australia holds the record of maximum victories with 581 victories to their name.

Apart from India only Australia and Pakistan have featured in more than 900 matches, Australia played 958 ODI’s and Pakistan has played 936 matches. Australia lost 334 matches and won 581. Pakistan registered 490 victories and faced defeat 417 times.

India’s 1000 match will be Rohit Sharma’s first ODI match as full-time skipper of the Indian ODI team.
