IPL 2022: Faf du Plessis being ‘best captain’ will lead RCB towards IPL title-winning – Michael Vaughan

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan opined that RCB skipper Faf du Plessis is the ‘best captain’ and has a good chance to win the IPL 2022 season. Michael Vaughan was impressed with Faf du Plessis’ winning game plan against SRH. In that match, he scored 73 for 50 balls.  Faf du Plessis is a young and inexperienced captain. Along with Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson, Plessis managed to put their team in the top 4 positions. RCB has won 7 out of 12 games with 14 points and is in 4th place on the points table. Vaughan feels Faf du Plessis would help RCB in winning the trophy in 15 years of IPL.

Vaughan called Faf du Plessis a magnificent thinker who led the team efficiently with both bath and responsibilities. Even Plessis is good at fielding and effectively utilizes the bowlers and batsmen with the best combinations.

Vaughan acclaims Faf du Plessis

“I think he’s the best captain in the IPL. Just see him as a magnificent thinker. That’s both with the bat in hand and then when he gets out there as the leader. I love the way how he’s at long-off and just kind of maneuvers the team.”

“He only comes in-field when there’s a review worth looking at. He’s got good combinations, a good attack but it’s just the way he uses them. He used all his bowlers inside the first 9-10 overs because he just wanted to make sure that the batters weren’t lining up any of them,” Vaughan said after RCB’s 67-run victory over SRH.

Vaughan acclaims du Plessis and says the RCB has a winning opportunity because of their skipper’s clever thinking. As du Plessis was playing for Chennai Super Kings until last year, he has the experience to take over the team on a best winning path. RCB has different players with different talents which is also an added advantage.

“I have said it from the start, because of Faf, the RCB team this year has just got a great opportunity. Because you’ve got the tools and you’ve got a really clever cricket thinker, and he’s won it before quite a few times with Chennai, he knows how to win the IPL. He’s just got a different shirt on,” Vaughan added.

RCB will play their next match against the Punjab Kings on May 13, Friday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
