It was love at first sight. On the 27th wedding anniversary a look back at Sachin and Anjali’s love story. The couple first saw each other at the Mumbai airport where Dr. Anjali was awaiting for her mother to return from England.
It was 32 years ago when medical student Anjali Mehta saw the 17 years prodigy Sachin Tendulkar for the first time at Mumbai International Airport. Meanwhile, Master Blaster returned from the England tour where as Anjali was present at the airport to receive her mother. One of Anjali’s friend told her “Look at the wonder boy of Indian Cricket”. After that Anjali Tendulkar ran after the cute boy screaming Sachin, Sachin. She even forgot about her mother.But Sachin felt embarrassed as his brother Ajit was present there.
After that, Anjali managed to get Sachin’s phone number and called him. She introduced herself on the call and recollected the airport incident. Sachin replied that he remembered all the things and he even correctly told about the dress Anjali wore at the airport.
In those days there was no mobile phone or social media. Anjali Tendulkar called him from Telephone Booths or wrote letters to save the telephone bills. Finally the duo tied the knot on 25 May 1995.
Sachin and Anjali have a daughter and a son together. Their daughter Sara Tendulkar was born on October 12, 1997. Meanwhile, their son Arjun Tendulkar was born on September 24, 1999.
