Umran Malik can play for any team if he controls his length : Glenn McGrath

Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath, who has worked at MRF foundation for the development of young Indian fast bowlers , said SRH pacer Umran Malik should concentrate his length with lethal pace. If he can do so then he can play for any team in the world, said former Aussie bowler.

Indian young sensational Speedster clocked the bowling speed 157km/h in this edition of IPL and surprised everyone. McGrath advised him to work hard off the field to keep himself strong.

Indian young sensational Speedster clocked the bowling speed 157km/h in this edition of IPL and surprised everyone. McGrath advised him to work hard off the field to keep himself strong.

“It’s about doing well in the second season and third season, once the batters get to know your bowling. When you are bowling 150 kmph-plus, that’s a lot of stress on the body and if you don’t put the work off the field to keep yourself strong, sooner or later you are going to break. When you are sitting and watching from the sidelines and they’re not picking you anymore, it’s not much fun,” McGrath added.

Umran Malik has picked 15 wickets from 11 matches with good strike rate off 16. Glenn McGrath also gave an example of Bumrah who worked hard off the field to stay strong.

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has been very much impressed with Malik’s bowling speed. “Umran Malik has been very, very impressive with his speed but more than his speed, it’s his accuracy (that’s impressed). A lot of guys who bowl at that speed tend to spray the ball around but Umran bowls very few wide deliveries,” said Gavaskar on Cricket Live on Star Sports.
