Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan showed explosive batting performance against South Africa in the 1st T20I of the 5-match series on Thursday. In absence of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, Ishan got opportunity to open the innings. ‘Pocket dynamite’ scored brilliant 76 runs of 48 balls.
The opening slot in Indian T20I team had been almost sealed by Rohit and Rahul. So, when both will return then Kishan will have to leave the slot. Should Ishan open the innings for Team India? When asked about this, Mumbai Indians opener didn’t agree on it.
“They are world class players. I won’t ask for my spot when they are there. My job is to give my best in the practice session. Whenever I get the opportunity, I have to prove myself and do well for the team.. So I focus on my process and what I have to do,” Ishan Kishan said in the press conference.
“They have scored so many runs for our country, I cannot ask them to drop themselves and make me play in the first place. I have to keep doing my thing, it’s up to the selectors and the coaches whatever they think, but my job is to give my best whenever I get my chance.” he further stressed.
However, Rishabh Pant led Team India lost against South Africa despite of first innings huge total of 211. David Miller and Russie van der Dussen’s over hundred partnership helped SA to win the match.
