Delhi Capitals – Team Review

Since the appointment of Australia’s Ricky Ponting as a coach , DC turned out to be one of the most consistent sides from last few seasons. Primarily focused on young talented Indian players with some bunch of experience international players , they believe in playing fearless cricket right from top.

Left with the smallest purse, Rs 47.5 crore after retaining some big young guns— Rishabh Pant,Anrich Nortje , Prithvi Shaw and Axar Patel , DC go all the way for experienced players like Ashwin , Dhawan and Rabada but failed due to lack of money. But they ended up having some big names under their hammer. And have all the chances to perform like the way they did in last 3 seasons.

Delhi are going to have one of the strongest top order in the league this time around. The possible opening combination of small dynamites, Warner and Shaw is expected to provide them some fireworks start during the Powerplay followed by Marsh who was added to further provide experience in the middle order and play the role of anchor man as what he is doing for Australia for while sometime.
Pant as leader , wicket-keeper, Cracker finsiher will be playing multiple roles for DC and has responsibilities to come good on all the fronts. They would have done a bit better in the middle order

Star all-rounder Shardul Thakur , a player who can bowl with the new ball and at the death will be their key major player in this tournament . His usefullness with the bat will add another dimension and more balance to DC’s squad.

With no Rabada this time arouns and some inury concern of Nortje , Ngidi and Mustafizur have to pull up their socks in pace department ,which is being one of the core strengths of Capitals over the last couple of seasons. With Shardul, Sakariya, Khaleel in the squad in the Indian pace department, a great mixture of right-hand, left-hand fast bowlers, they too can play a major role for them.

Their spin department is what one of the major concern for them. With no Ashwin and Mishra this time around ,Axar would have to do ended with plenty of the work as Kuldeep Yadav has struggled in past few seasons and need to get some confidence back in his sleeves.
