Chennai Super Kings bought New Zealand batter, Devon Conway, at a base price of Rs.1 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. CSK opted for Devon Conway as a replacement for their former opener Faf du Plessis. His debut innings in IPL 2022 for CSK was the inaugural match 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26. Conway failed to impress and was soon dismissed just scoring 3 runs off eight balls. He was dropped after playing a debut match for CSK and left the bio bubble returning to his hometown.

After returning to India after his wedding Conway played his second match in IPL 2022 against SRH on May 1. Devon Conway remained unbeaten for 85 off 55 balls. And in the next game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, managed to score 56 runs off 37balls. He scored his third consecutive fifty in the match against the Delhi Capitals with 87 off 49 balls. CSK blasted with a score of 208 for 6 wicket loss and which was unbeatable by Delhi Capitals. And DC lost by a big 91-run in match 55 of the ongoing IPL season. Devon Convey won the player of the match with his amazing runs scoring performance.

He has scored 231 runs with an average of 77 and at a strike rate of 155.03 in 4 innings played so far. Chennai Super Kings Moeen Ali hailed Devon Conway for his third consecutive fifty. And says his marriage is the reason behind his success in IPL 2022.

In a video shared by CSK, Moeen praised Devon Conway for his purple cap in the last match.

“Yeah, obviously marriage is working for him and he is doing well ever since. Look, he is somebody who gets a lot of runs, he is a run-getter, and he and Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) have started getting partnerships which we need, which we needed obviously after Faf (Du Plessis) leaving or going. It’s great going forward and he’s a brilliant player, he’s got great shots. It’s been really well and I’m really happy for him,” Moeen said in a video.

Moeen Hails Dhoni’s leadership:

Moeen Ali took three-wicket against the DC restricting to score more runs. He also hailed Dhoni for his amazing leadership roles and their discussion about bowlers and the match.

“It’s a great opportunity for me because obviously he’s coming in and I try and pick up a lot of things as a captain when I go back home.

So we chat about what type of bowlers we have and all that and then bowling obviously for him is to tell me what wicket it is and how to bowl and stuff so he as everybody knows he is amazing so I try and pick his brain as much as I can,” said Moeen Ali
